Week 0 — the enquiry
One WhatsApp message with your occasion, the date, and any image that has caught your eye. We reply with an honest answer about whether the date is possible, a price range for what you are describing, and two or three fabric directions. Nothing is charged and nothing is committed at this stage.
Week 1 — design and fabric
You come to the atelier in Al Wukair, or we send swatches to you. We sketch together — not a fashion illustration, a working drawing you can argue with. By the end of this week the silhouette, the neckline, the sleeve, the fabric and the colour are settled, and your measurements are taken.
This is the first of the two deadlines that matter. Every day the design stays open is a day taken from the handwork at the end.
Week 2 — the toile
We cut the dress once in inexpensive cotton and fit it on you. This is the step most workshops skip and the reason bespoke fits the way it does. On a toile we can move a shoulder seam, deepen a back, change a sleeve angle and re-cut — all before your real fabric has been touched.
Everything expensive should be decided on cheap cloth first.
Week 3 — first fitting in your fabric
Your cloth is cut and assembled, unfinished. You see the dress as a dress for the first time. Bring the shoes and the underwear you intend to wear on the night — a two-centimetre difference in heel height changes every hem measurement we take today.
Week 4 — handwork
Beading, embroidery, hand-rolled hems, lining, hooks and closures. This is the slowest week and the one that cannot be compressed: a beaded shoulder is measured in hours of hand-sewing, and rushing it is visible from across a room.
Week 5 — final fitting and collection
A last fitting for the small adjustments — a hem, a strap, a closure — then pressing, and we confirm collection on WhatsApp. We keep the final fitting at least four days before your event, never the night before. That gap is the second deadline that matters, and it is the one we protect most fiercely.
When five weeks is not enough
Heavy all-over beading, corsetry, or a dress with a structured train needs six to eight. A wedding gown, we would rather have ten. If your date is closer than five weeks, say so in your first message — we will tell you honestly whether we can do it well, and if we cannot, we will say that too.
What actually speeds a dress up
- Deciding the fabric in week one and not revisiting it.
- Coming to fittings with the right shoes, every time.
- Answering WhatsApp messages the same day — most delays we see are two days of waiting, four times over.
- Telling us early if your weight or your plans are likely to change before the date.
